MID-19TH CENTURY VIOLIN, two piece 14 inch back, bearing a label for Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume a Paris 3 Rue Demours-Terne, 59.5cm overall, with bow, in fitted case Note: Jean-Baptise Vuillaume (1798-1875) was an innovative violin maker and restorer. He drew his inspiration from older violins by Stradivari and Guarneri 'del Gesu.' His workshop in Paris employed and trained some of the finest 19th century violin and bow makers, including Maucotel, Derazey, Persoit and Fonclause.

Fine painted abstract figurehead painting on both sides of bow. Anchor winch (anchors missing) and companion way hatch on fore deck. Forward wheelhouse and passenger cabin with ladder to upper deck, 2 sets of davits (one detached), one lifeboat, other missing, ventilation shafts, Poop deck at stern with ladder to upper deck with hand wheel for rudder and on/off lever for CW motor, jack staff (detached) flying white ensign 'Britannia' transfers below poop deck on port and starboard. Fine double handrail with cast stanchions all around deck and atop cabins, (rudder has been inverted by previous owner). One pair of shrouds for the foremast present but detached. wheeled cradle missing, but has original 'orange box' wood carry case with original paper labels on end, labels for Schlitten No. 3 (trolley) for 'Britannia' and for GBN oval Lady and Lion stature logo, Caveat emptor - deck and cabins appear repainted. Hull? A steam propelled version of this ship appears on page 51 of 'Mr Gamage's Great Toy Bazaar 1902-1906' also see page 75 'The Allure of Toy Ships' by Richard T Claus for a similar larger model

An 18 carat gold cased full face decimal chronograph pocket watch by John Lecomber of London and Liverpool, dated September 13th 1875, together with an 18 carat gold chain, 23.7 g (case hall-marked Chester 1880), housed in a box containing four 10 shilling notes CONDITION REPORTS We are unable to confirm whether the watch is in full working order. The weight of the watch alone is approx 135g The weight of the chain is 23.8g. without the key. The watch case has a diameter of 5.5cm approx,. Numerous light surface scratches, some scuffs to the case, some minor dents and knocks to the case mainly to the back. The dial is in good condition with no chips to the edges, etc. Some accretions, some light surface scratches and scuffs to the glass. There is no wear or base metal coming through from the bow ring so would conclude that the bow ring is not plated but gold. The watch has been over wound. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for details.

A 19th Century carved brisé fan decorated with figures within a landscape with pagodas, together with a 19th Century bone and sequin decorated fan depicting dandelions CONDITION REPORTS The brisé fan has numerous areas of discolouration adn staining especialy to the outer sticks nad sticks to the middle of the fan. The ribbon has come apart on the far left hand stick. Some surface scratches and accretions. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. The 19th Century bone and sequine decorated fan has numeroous areas of discolouration and staining, wear and fading on the giltwork . The cloth is discooured and has areas of staining. There appears to be a repair on the left hand outer stick which appears to have been snapped and tied together with a bow.
