Circa WWII Air Ministry smoker's bow chair. Stamped A M beneath a crown, drop in seat, turned tapering front supports united by a turned double stretcher. H81cm Condition Report: maker AJM stamped for year 1940, double stretchered, drop in re-upholstered. sturdy , the fault is a reglued corner section to top rail to where it rises plus an old repair of a screw to the top of the left hand side as you look at it, otherwise fine.

Three areas of paint loss top and bottom edge caused by old nails (would be hidden by a tighter slip), some further abrasions to the board which has a convex bow. No signs of overpainting visible under UV light.

Bengal SchoolIndian, 19th/ early 20th Centurydepiction of the Tantric Hindu goddess Tripurasundari, illustrated with a red complexion and wearing a crown upon her head in the form of a crescent shaped moon, the goddess holds a suar cane bow, five flower arrows, a noose and a hook, the goddess sits above Siva who in turn sits on a cot, the gods Brahma, Visnu, Rudra and Indra form the legs of the cot, oil on canvas/cloth on a later board, with an inscription to the lower centre, 90cm x 60cm Provenance: From the collection of the late Don Factor, art collector and purchased in London in the 1970s. With signs of wear consistent with age and use throughout. With losses to the paint. Would benefit from a cleaning. The frame with a chip. The painting with scratches. The painting with marks/staining. The painting is creased/cockled. Lines through the painting. Tape attached to the back of the frame.
