A pair of late 19th century alabaster busts of young children, one a boy wearing a cardigan and the other a girl with a bow in her hair. Both marked to reverse 'Prof G. Bessi, Houdon, Paris, 1785'. Both on onyx/marble bases. Each approximately 42cm high. Condition: Large chunk missing from the onyx base of the girl, some chips, nibbles, wear and slight staining to both. (2)

The piece has been repolished and subject to restoration. The new wax has warmed to take on colour, but there are areas of rubbing plus watermarks to the surface. The kickers or door stops have been replaced or re glued. The oak line drawers run well and are stable. Knocks, scuffs, surface scratches and marks consistent with age. Handles likley replaced but with repurposed period examples, through the sames holes - hand cut threads and nuts. Locks possibly orignal, key works for all, old scribe marks present.

General wear, knocks and marks throughout commensurate with age and use. General wear to interiors. Doors open, close and lock freely. Some fine splits to flame veneers of doors. Some knocks to supports. One or two very minor cosmetic repairs. Re-polished. Castors functional. Top shelf 14cm deep. Please see additional photos.
