Rare Martini Henry MkI .577/450 rifle Rare unaltered Martini Henry MkI .577/450 rifle, 32inch barrel fitted with folding ladder sight, secured by two bands one with bayonet lug, cleaning rod to the underside of with original sharp shouldered form, the polished breech block stamped S B relating to the improved striker, held in place with a bronze axis pin, the receiver stamped with a Crowned VR Enfield I and dated 1873, the butt fitted with sling swivel (moved to the trigger guard on later patterns) with deeply struck R.M. Enfield WD I roundell and chequered butt plate, numerous WD inspection stamps to all parts. Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification will be required if the lot is to be posted out. 124cm long The rifle appears in very good general condition with a nice dark patina.The action works correctly with a positive lock-up.The bore is bright and shiny with a strong crisp rifling pattern.The bluing is mainly all present with some wear in places such as the trigger guard bow, and the barrel bands. There is very light speckled surface finish to the parts which would have once been polished such as the breech block. The stock is free from splits or repairs, there are quite a few scratches and dents typical of a military rifle but nothing defacing.
