He was appointed an Academician in 1858 and painted many members of the Imperial Russian family. ++Executed on a single large thin sheet of ivory. The ivory has been examined out of the frame and is undamaged although sightly warped. Neither it, or the painting have any restoration. With 20th c Rowley Gallery gilt frame

A late Victorian gold and silvery coloured metal mounted all diamond set flower pattern brooch, the central flowerhead set with five old cut stones, one of 1.5ct, two .75cts and two .33cts and thirty-one other old cut diamonds, the bow and pendant drop set with fourteen small old cut diamonds, each approximately .15ct suspending tear drop pattern old cut diamond approximately 1.25ct, 22mm x 35mm overall (total estimated weight 8cts - gross weight 15.3 grammes)
A Bow Shaped Ring, inset with baguette cut and brilliant cut diamonds, in channel settings, with lined edging, on a plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 0.35 carat approximately, finger size J1/2 The ring is in good condition. The shank is yellowing slightly, and the ring would benefit from re-rhodium plating. It is stamped `14Kt` and in our opinion it would test as gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour J/K/L, clarity I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 6.0 grams. CR made 4th March 2014
A silver pocket watch signed Vacheron to the inner case. The case engine turned engraved with swags and a shield with areas of gold plating to the bezel and edge of case and also the bow. Inner case engraved Vacheron Geneve cylnidre 4 rubis. Serial number 42657. The dial of white enamel has Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial all with blued steel hands. The watch has an attached silver fob chain dated 1902 and comes in its own fitted Gentleman`s overnight jewellery box.
A circa 1790 English violin by Longman Broderip No. 80 Cheapside, No.18 Haymarket, London (stamped verso), bearing label to interior inscribed "Repaired by Peter Milligan Glasgow 1881", together with a bow with mother of pearl inlay by E Herrmann and another similar housed in a Hawkes & Son of London "The Molda case No. 2" and leather mounted canvas outer case, length overall 60 cm, body 35.5 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Hermann bow with general wear and scuffs, stick seems reasonably straight. The other bow is quite heavily scuffed, with various chips and losses and stick is slightly warped. Violin quite heavily worn and scuffed, with scratches and losses to varnish, quite a few splits to table, some scratches to back and possibly a short fine split along grain, one of the f-holes very warped and some warping and uneven-ness to the table, wear and chips to edges, neck may be a replacement as scroll appears to be grafted and finish of neck appears to differ slightly from that of the scroll and the body, various splits and cracks to the sides, and some chips. Black case quite heavily worn and suffed, canvas outer case also with wear, tears to edges, etc. Length of back including button approx. 37 cm.
