Rare "Figure of eight" Naval Cutlass circa 1750 to 1780, used on British Men of War upto the Battle of Trafalgar. This type of Cutlass was also used by the American Navy during the time of the Revolution. The grip is a cylinder of lapped iron. The "figure of eight" or "Double Disc" knuckle bow fastens flat to the top of the grip. The blade of 27 inches, has a central fuller and single cutting edge. Overall the Cutlass is pitted, but the hilt and blade are in solid condition despite its age. The guard is completely original and untouched. The cutlass` were kept on deck in wooden blocks, hence no scabbard.
Sword - an 1796 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword, blade 31½" signed on top flat by "J. Runkel Solingen", engraved blade with crown of George III and "G.R." and a stand of Arms. Silver wire bound grip, plain knuckle bow, folding shell guard. In over all good condition, no scabbard. Napolionic Wars era with pre 1801 Royal Coat of Arms
Sword - an 1796 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword, blade 31½" , blade etched with crown of George III and "G.R." showing 30% of faded deep blue with minor rusting, silver wire bound grip, plain knuckle bow folding shell guard. In over all good and complete condition. Some wear to hilt gilding, in its brass bound leather scabbard with two hanging rings, minor crack to locket (ring detached but present after old repair), pre 1801 Royal Coat of Arms
