A mahogany bow front kneehole desk, having a frieze drawer above a shaped drawer and a cupboard in a recess, flanked by three short drawers, on splay legs, 86 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by GH The top surface has old and newer scratches. Some sun fading and some minor cracks to the veneer. The drawer fronts generally good with no cock-beading missing, what appears to be the original swan neck handles all present and correct. Some sun fading, scratches and nicks commensurate with age. The legs appear to be in good condition. The piece is firm and solid, no obvious restoration or damage. Dents and scratches to the bottom of the legs commensurate with use. The back of the unit is in good condition appears to be original with no damage. Overall presents very well, with the exception of the sun fading and the scratches.
A lot to include a 22ct yellow gold wedding band, width approx. 6mm, of plain design, hallmarked Birmingham 1922, ring size I½, weight approx. 6.1g, an 18ct white gold band, width approx. 5mm, having bright cut engraved design to entire band, hallmarked London 1970, ring size N½, weight approx. 3.6g, a 9ct rose gold signet ring, having oval head indistinctly engraved with monogram, stamped 9 375, ring size K½, weight approx. 2.9g, a white metal band, width approx. 2mm, engraved with repeat bow design to entire band, stamped Platinum, ring size K, weight approx. 3.5g, (4).

§ John Minton (British, 1917 - 1962) Study of Hugh Trevor-Roper in glasses and a bow tie, seated signed and dated upper left "John Minton 1957" pen and ink 38 x 28cm (15 x 11in) Provenance: Purchased from Jeffrey Bernard by Nicholas and Elisabeth Luard. From the collection of Elisabeth Luard, Brynmeheryn. Loose in its frame, and with dirt along the top edge. The sitter may not be Hugh Trevor-Roper. The similarity has been questioned and we are conduction further investigation into who the sitter may be.
