A rare early Steiff pin-cushion cat head, of cream velvet with painted tabby markings, clear glass eyes with green backs, elliptical black pupil and rim, flat top edge, pink stitched nose and mouth, cream bow and circular felt base, circa 1905 —2½in. (6.5cm.) high (split to top of head, tear to right ear, small hole to left cheek, pin holes to back of head, wear and discoloured) - produced from 1901 to 1908, there are possibly signs of where a button was in the left ear, hence the dating.

A 19th century mahogany carver armchair, having a bar back above three foliate capped rails and reeded side rails, with downswept arm rests supported on vase turned supports, with drop in seat and bow front, all upon channelled tapering legs united by plain stretchers.

Lot 1932

A Victorian ebonised bow front credenza, with inlaid floral decoration throughout with gilt metal mounts, the bow front glass sides and interior enclosing shelves all upon turned bun feet. 121.5 cm wide, 114.5 cm high, 38.5 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The glass door panels are not cracked. All metal mounts are present. The only metalwork that is missing are some sections of the beading around each glazed door (41 cm approximately missing to left hand door and 32 cm to the right hand door). There do not appear to be any significant losses to the marquetry. The cabinet is very dirty and requires a good clean. There are some veneer nibbles around the plinth base and scuffs and marks to the bun feet. We have a key which operates the centre and left hand doors. The right hand door lock is missing. There are some veneer nibbles around the edges of the top and various old marks to the top surface. The backboards are original.

Lot 1187

A 19th century violin with one piece back, with case and bow stamped "Dodd". Length of back 14 3/8" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The violin appears to be intact although the edges are very playworn. There are no obvious cracks or splits. The two piece back has light and dark patches throughout, again possibly through excessive playing. There are scratch marks directly under the tail piece closest to the bridge. The bow appears to be in good order although there are some surface scratches throughout. The bow has no hair. The case although sound, the exterior covering is very distressed.

Edward Horace Thompson (British 1879-1949), "Full Summer, Haweswater to Bow Fell", signed and dated 1923, watercolour. 43.5 cm x 59 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The painting is in an original mount and frame. The glass is a little dirty on both sides. There appears to be a faint surface scratch to the left hand bottom corner of the image which runs across the extreme left hand large rock. This is minor but visible. The sky is a little yellowed. Other than this the condition is generally good. The frame glass is cracked.
