Karl Ernst Papf (1833-1910), oil on canvas of a gentleman wearing a black coat and bow tie, signed E Papf 1889, 51cm x 62cm, unframed. Also an oil on canvas of a woman in mourning dress, signed E Papf 1887, 54 cm x 65cm, unframed.Papf was a German-born Brazilian photographer, painter and designer. In 1878 he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he was commissioned to paint members of the Imperial Family of Brazil. In 1885 he set up his own studio where the Imperial family were regular clients.. .
A Himalayan Ganapati Maha Rakta Thangka scroll paintingTibet, depicting the Tantric Buddhist from of Ganesha after defeating the Shaiva Hindu deity and wearing its decapitated head over its own, the red elephant-headed God of luck and wealth with three eyes and broken left tusk, the five outstretched left arms holding a pestle, spear, kapala skullcup, khatvanga and bow, the five right arms held aloft wielding an axe, vajra, sword, elephant goad (ankus) and arrow, the other two left and right arms come together at the body holding a kapala filled with blood, with snake and billowing fabrics wrapped round the waist the figure balances on left leg atop a giant rat, faded appearance with still vibrant gilt jewellery and painted highlights, covered by green fabric veil rolled on wooden baton with bronze caps, 33 x 28in. (84 x 71cm.).
An unusual French novelty miniature sedan chair pocket watch vitrinelate 19th / early 20th century, of paper mache construction, on gold ground, embellished with delightful scenes of frolicking winged cherubs, doves and floral garlands and scroll motifs, velour trim, bevelled glass windows, ornate bow shaped door handle, the door opening to reveal a blue/purple velvet interior with gold trim a watch hanging hook, 6¾in. (17cm.) high.
An Edwardian silver gilt and enamel brooch watch import marks for London 1910, the light blue guilloche case with silver fleur-de-lys, with 17mm. white enamel Arabic dial, gilt fob wound lever movement, case diameter 22mm., with matching bow brooch. (2)* Condition: Movement runs very briefly but then stops. Will require cleaning and servicing - possibly repair. Glass cracked. Some wear to surface of enamel to back of case and two chips to lower edge of back. Brooch has some losses from enamel.
