The Louis Wain Mazawattee tea box, c. 1910, an orig. rectangular paper-covered cardboard tea box, the lift-up lid depicting a cats tea dance with orchestra, all four sides showing couples dancing, others in conversation, the lady cats with attractive neck ruffs, some holding fans, the gentleman cats wearing bow ties and one sporting a monacle, the interior of the box lined with gold paper and the lid printed with the legend 'Delicious Mazawattee Tea. Genuine Only in Sealed Packets & Tins', minor age wear to extrems., overall dimensions 9.5 in. long, 5 in. tall and 6 in. deep (24 x 12.5 x 15 cm.). A rare and important item of Wainiana. (1)

A rare Sino-Tibetan painted leather armour,Late 18th/19th century formed of a series of horizontally arranged lamellar plates covering the chest and back, ten further rows covering both the rear and curving round to the front of the leg and extending to the knee, the plates all joined by a series of leather thongs, the entire surface painted with flowers and foliage, and the lower plates bordered with key ornament, on a plastic dummy covered with a 19th century padded silk gown; a Sino-Tibetan large wicker shield, 19th century, of convex form, formed of a circular arrangement of rattan-bound wicker, secured on the perimeter by four shaped slender iron brackets, and at the centre by a large circular iron boss with two iron brackets en suite (two brackets missing); a Tibetan silver-and brass-mounted belt, with strike-a-light and pouch; a Sino-Tibetan quiver; 18th/early 19th century, of reinforced leather, the border studded with domed white metal studs, and large engraved white metal bosses, complete with its original belt mounted with silvered iron, and with nine various arrows; and a portion of a Sino-Tibetan leather bow case 18th/19th century (13) Op.cit., pp.396-397 figs.283g, 283f, and 283j

* Lawrence (Thomas Edward, 1888-1935). T.E. Lawrence and unknown female passenger in the 'Biscuit' motor-boating [on Plymouth Sound, c. 1930], sepia-toned photo, horizontal crease, sm. closed tear at lower margin, torn in 'half' with loss of bow of boat, pencilled tracing of boat and fumes to verso with a note in Lawrence's hand, 'This is smoke & noise', 163 x 103 mm. Lawrence arrived at RAF Cattewater [renamed Mount Batten], near Plymouth, in March 1929, as personal assistant to the Commanding Officer Sydney Smith. In September 1929, in recognition for their joint hard work in organising the Schneider Trophy seaplane contest, they were presented with a Biscayne Baby speedboat, soon renamed 'The Biscuit'. 'Biscuit' was finally made seaworthy by April 1930.
