A bronze globular bowl in 12th-14th century AD style with broad mouth, band of later brass and silver-inlaid calligraphic text beneath the rim and further similar band to the equator with roundels depicting horsemen armed with sword or bow, dancer among fronds, dancer among scorpions, pair of dancers above an ox-skull; later iron replacement bottom with reinforced basal ring, later twisted wrought-iron loops and carrying handle. 2.7 kg, 38cm (15"). From a large London collection; formed between 1980-late 1990s. Fair condition.

An octagonal Japanese Kakiemon "Hob in the well' dish, Edo, 2nd half 17th C. Dia.: 26 cmÊ Decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt over clear glaze with a scene of Sima Guang rescuing a drowning companion from a water jar, known in Europe as the "Hob in the well".
