Army & Navy, An 18ct gold minute repeating half-hunter chronograph pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for sixty seconds and sixty hours a sweep centre seconds hand with stop and reset button in the band and numbered ‘9208’, with blued steel spade hands, the movement with split bi-metallic free-sprung compensating balance with an over-coil hairspring to the lever escapement, the repeat mechanism with two gongs, activated by a slide in the band, with the three-quarter backplate engraved ‘Army & Navy Co-Operative Society Ltd, 9208, 105, Victoria St, London, SW’, in a half-hunter case with swivel-bow blue enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals and monogram, hallmarks for London 1905 and with repeat serial number and initials ‘F.T’ for the case maker Fred Thoms, 55mm diameter. * Fred Thoms, is considered one of the finest case maker’s of his generation. He developed the ‘swivel’ bow as an anti-theft device as seen on this example.
A George III mahogany bow-fronted sideboard, the top with a reeded edge, fitted with a central frieze drawer and recessed arched apron drawer below, flanked by a deep drawer to one side and a small drawer and an enclosed compartment to the other, on square tapered legs, terminating in spade feet, 182cm (5ft 11 3/4in) long.
By Maple & Co Ltd An Edwardian walnut writing desk of bowed breakfront outline, the top with a moulded edge inset with a panel of tooled leather, the bow-fronted centre containing two short drawers, flanked by three short drawers to either side with plated handles, on square tapered legs, united by a concave fronted undertier terminating in castors, 137cm (4ft 6in) wide.
