A good quality DB 12 bore percussion sporting gu, by W R Pape, Newcastle on Tyne, number 1322, 45½” overall, twist barrels 30”, the top rib engraved “W R Pape, Newcastle on Tyne, Winner of the London Gun Trials 1858, 1859 & 1866”, the locks finely engraved with scrolls, game birds, and running rabbit and with slender rounded hammers, walnut halfstock with chequered fore end and wrist and bulbous protrusions below the locks, finely engraved steel mounts, the trigger guard bow with game dog, GS mounted ramrod with concealed worm. GWO & C, engraving and chequering crisp (the left hand barrel dented near the muzzle, butt plate removed and the base chequered). Plate 10
