A group of English porcelain coffee cups including a set of four Bow style coffee cups painted with lotuses in blue and red, a coffee cup printed with a bowl of fruit within gilt bands, a coffee cup painted in the Imari paletter with a band of floral decoration heightened in gilt, bearing purple mark. (6)
A Samson after Bow porcelain chamberstick c.1880, in the form of two exotic birds perched in a tree, the branches applied with leaves and small flowers forming a figure of eight, the trunk similarly decorated, one branch curving from the base around the back of the trunk forming a handle with shell thumb-piece, on a rounded base decorated with moulded scrolls, highlighted in pale blue and gilt, the base marked Modèle Samson in black script, 9½in. (24cm.) high, restorations.
A pair of Georgian Mallet Decanters with Scottish interest inscription c.1780, probably Irish, with three square cut neck rings, pillar cut necks, petal cut shoulders and flute cut lower body, engraved "BOWMEN OF THE BORDER" above a bow and arrow, numbered 10 & 11 to the necks respectively, with facet edged lozenge stoppers, height 29.5cm. (2) * The society of `The Bowmen of the Border` was founded in Kelso in 1788 by a diploma from The Royal Company of Archers in Scotland, its membership comprising eighty of the noblemen and gentlemen residing in the quarter or connected with the Borders. It is recorded as being active until the mid-19th century.
An 18th century and later Dutch walnut and marquetry bombe display cabinet the serpentine broken arched pediment over a pair of six pane glazed doors and three pane arched side lights, enclosing two shaped shelves, the bombe base with three drawers with gilt brass rococo style foliate handles and escutcheons, on hairy ball and claw feet and shaped rear bracket feet, united by a shaped apron, the whole inlaid with satinwood and harewood floral, scroll, ribboned bow, butterfly and basket marquetry within satinwood marquetry borders, 81in. (206cm.) high, 57in. (145cm.) wide.
