CHINESE SCHOOL "Study of a Chinese gentleman standing wearing a red cloak and holding a long staff before trailing prunus", watercolour, signed, with character marks and two red seals, 47 cm x 92 cm (ILLUSTRATED) CONDITION REPORTS This has been rolled and is quite curled. Numerous splits horizontally across the picture including one which runs practically the whole way across, plus numerous other splits including frits across the gentleman's red cloak. There also appears to be a tear between the cloak and the bow. Generally some wear, dirt and stains, including stains to the fabric surround. Some creases.

David Alison (1882-1955) - Oil painting - Half length portrait of Mr James Bow Dunn (1861-1930), board 13.5ins x 10.5ins, unsigned but inscribed in pencil with the artist`s name and address 108 George Street, Edinburgh and name of the sitter, in deep moulded stained wood frame, and with two medallions awarded by The Royal Scottish Academy to James Dunn, an Associate in 1914 (bronze) and a Fellow in 1930 (silver) complete with cases for same Provenance : Mr James Bow Dunn born 16th January 1861 at Pollokshields, Glasgow. The family moved to Edinburgh where he was educated at Herriots Watts. On 28th September 1898 he married Catherine Norma Ballantyne of Walkerburn, Midlothian and on 5th June he was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He died 25th August 1930 after an operation, leaving a widow, son and two daughters who at that time were living at 7 Ainslie Place, Edinburgh, and thence by family descent

Singer & Sons, Frome, Somerset, and published by Arthur Leslie Collie, 39b Old Bond Street, London, May 1st 1890, 20.5ins high, and with ebonised plinth for same Provenance : Mr James Bow Dunn (1861-1930) Architect based in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Mr James Bow Dunn was the Godson of Lord Leighton and it is thought the bronze was given to him on attaining his membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects and thence by family descent
