Allister Malcolm - A large shallow circular glass bowl with graduated ruby to amber to clear, internally decorated with a random blue whiplash line over gold aventurine, raised to a small circular foot engraved 'The 1st piece produced at the White House Cone Museum of Glass by Allister Malcolm - 2016' BGF Trustee and Resident Glassmaker at White House Cone - museum of glass Allister Malcolm haskindly donated for auction the first piece of glass he made at the new museum in Wordsley, andtherefore the first piece of glass made on the former Stuart site since pre-2001 when the glassworksfinally closed.The piece was produced in front of a large crowd as part of the inaugural Heat is On! Event andAllister, whom visitors will recall was wearing a celebratory bow tie at the time, actually took the veryfirst gather from the furnace to produce it. So the provenance is beyond question. Allister has alsoengraved the base accordingly, which make the piece unique.Allister Malcolm says: 'After all the hard work in establishing the new White House Cone - museumof glass I am delighted that this piece will be recorded in perpetuity as the first ever produced in thenew furnace. I hope that it comes to be seen as emblematic of what can be achieved by acombination of dedication, vision and, crucially, the tremendous support of the community in helpingus create this wonderful new facility for the benefit of all'.
