An early 20th Century Continental violin in Stradivarius style, with plain one-piece back, interior label dated 1733, length of back 36.6cms, together with two bows, one stamped Tourte, with mother-of-pearl inlaid frog, 58grams; and another good quality bow with mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay, approximately 65grams. An early 19thC bow fronted twin pedestal mahogany sideboard, with panels to the frieze, on two pedestals set with acanthus and rope twist columns, the whole surmounted by a bird topped and acanthus leaf mirror back, terminating in hairy paw feet, 151cm high, 69cm deep, 110cm long. On initial inspection cavity columns on pedestals, later handles, come in four pieces. Missing carving appears to be large there and in drawers.

While ritual supplication and ablutions have worn away some of the gilding on the cheeks and forehead, the bodhisattva's crisp, handsome features are well preserved. Related bronze sculptures of Manjushri from Nepal's Late Malla period include an example in the Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena (Pal, Asian Art At the Norton Simon Museum, vol. II, 2003, pp. 96, no. 62), and two sold at Sotheby's, New York, 20 March 2013: one which shares a similar expression (lot 203), and another with a similarly pointed aureole (lot 208).
