Fine Indian Dagger Khanjarli, 18th Century, recurved wootz blade cut with narrow fullers, iron guard decorated overall with good quality floral and foliate gold koftgari, knuckle bow with pointed octagonal finial, 2 piece wooden grips of fine grain secured by silver rivets. Blade 20cms, overall 30.5cms. Good condition (small chip to point of one grip).
^ Indian Dagger Khanjarli, 17th or 18th Century, recurved double edge blade cut with multiple fullers and pierced at the forte with a pair of stylised elephant heads, iron knuckle bow, 4 piece riveted ivory grips of good colour. Overall 31cms, blade 20cms. Good condition, ivory tips chipped at pommel, some age wear overall.
Indian Sword Khanda, 18th Century, broad double edge spatulate blade swollen towards the tip and braced at the forte with a steel mount in the form of a long lotus stem with up-turned bud finial, iron hilt of conventional form, broad knuckle bow and tall top spike with a lotus bud finial. Blade 81cms, overall 105cms. Good condition, some age wear overall, one small bracket which secures the hilt to the blade missing.
Indian Sword Khanda, Probably Late 17th Century, broad thin double edge blade braced at the forte with iron brackets extending down the blade [the longer bracket incomplete], iron hilt of conventional form covered with gilt foil, broad knuckle bow, tall pointed octagonal pommel spike. Blade 82cms, overall 101.5cm. Quite good condition, hilt worn, some rust and pitting to hilt and blade.
Indian Sword Tulwar, Probably 18th Century, broad curved pattern welded blade of tegha form with false edge, iron hilt encrusted with silver foliage and with ‘gilt’ devices, canted pommel, knuckle bow with twin stylised bird head finials. Blade 76cms. Good condition, the ‘gilt’ devices in the hilt replaced with filler and painted gold.
Unusual Indian Short Sword from Rajasthan, probably 18th century, curved single edge blade cut with assorted fullers and riveted to the shaped iron forte, iron knuckle bow, wooden hilt inlaid with engraved bone pieces, in its leather covered wooden scabbard [incomplete]. Blade 64cms. Good condition, age worn overall, pommel incomplete.
Indian Sword, Probably Mysore Late 18th or Early 19th Century, single edge blade cut with 3 narrow fullers, silver gilt hilt with lion’s head pommel and quillon terminals, knuckle bow with Makara head finial. Blade 76cms. Generally good condition, the blade cleaned bright, some age wear overall and one quillon terminal slightly deformed.
Smallsword Made for a Youth, c.1680, probably English, diamond section blade cut with a short narrow fuller, brass hilt retaining some original gilding overall, with cherub heads and foliage in high relief on guard, quillon block and pommel, solid grip en-suite. Blade 71cms. Good condition, quillon and knuckle bow missing.
Mid-17th Century Cavalry Trooper’s Walloon Sword, straight double edge blade deeply stamped with the running wolf and commemorative date 1515 on both sides within a broad short fuller. Iron hilt, large pierced guards with reinforced edges, integral thumb ring, swollen quillon finial, edge of guard and knuckle bow both with swollen balusters, the latter screwed to swollen iron pommel. Original iron grip wire. Blade 35”. Good condition, grip wire now consolidated, blade lightly pitted with some moderate pitting to the tip of the blade.
19th Century French Infantry Briquet Short Sword, one piece brass ribbed handle and knuckle bow, curved plain single edged blade stamped “HENRAUX-JNE”. Housed in the original leather scabbard with brass mounts. Acceptance stamps to the blade and knuckle bow, guard also stamped V37. Some stress faults and wear to the leather scabbard but generally still in good condition.
1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Officers Sword, gilt brass strap and knuckle bow with central shield style langet, gilded pommel and fluted back strap. Leather covered grip with copper wire binding. Curved single edged blade with large partial fuller. Remains of the gilt tooled etched decoration to the blade, early Ordnance / Engineers three cannon badge and order of the Thistle is etched along with trophy of arms and the makers details of Thomas Gills. Originally the sword would have been blue and gilt but none of the blueing remains and only outlines of the gilt remains to the etching. Blade measures 82 ½cms in length. No scabbard.
