Queen Elizabeth II Milliners' wooden wall-mounted sign, 7cm x 30.5cm, two scrap books of press cuttings from 1950s relating to the Queen wearing Kate Days' hats and Kate Day's career, a photograph of Miss Day and 'Silver and Gold' autobiography by Norman Hartnell, with hand-written and signed dedication to his friend Kate Day (7) Provenance: the family of Miss Kate Day. Kate Day made hats for Queen Elizabeth even before her coronation and continued afterwards as the ‘Queen’s Milliner’. She was the only milliner to receive a Royal Warrant in the new Queen’s first year. The brooch was a personal gift to her from Queen Elizabeth.
