Generally worn and patinated.
A GOOD 19TH CENTURY JADE HILTED INDIAN MUGHAL CHILANUM OR DAGGER, 37.5cm curved fullered blade deeply chiselled with a panel calligraphy to either side on a textured gilt ground, the forte with borders of scrolling foliage in gold koftgari and an architectural form with trefoil top and infilled with star forms in gold koftgari, characteristic hilt carved from a single piece of pale green jade, the crossguard with bud finials, the scrolling knuckle bow with bud terminal, bifurcated scrolling pommel with domed finial.
A SCARCE INDO-MUSLIM TULWAR OR SWORD FROM MYSORE, 18th century, 79cm curved single edge blade cut with a single narrow fuller, iron hilt of 'Indo-Muslim' form comprising knuckle bow and side guard fitted pierced with a pair of confronting ducks and with a pair of side bars all with down-turned duck's head finials and each deeply chiselled with W characters, swollen grip with distinct medial ridge engraved with three characters, bulbous pommel with eight vertical ribs in relief capped with flower head shaped disc, down-turned quillons with swollen chiselled flower head finials. Note: See 'The Indian Sword' P. S. Rawson 1968, Pl.46 and p.82. for a tulwar with the same hilt design (I.M. 98-1955) in the V&A museum.
A RARE 17TH CENTURY TURKISH OTTOMAN SWORD NIMCHA, of the type favoured for use at sea, broad curved double edge blade swollen towards the point, cut with a pair of fullers and struck with makers marks (indistinct), partly fluted back edge, double edge yelman, brass guard and knuckle bow with faceted acorn finials (finial to quillon missing), partly fluted one piece horn grip of conventional form with shaped brass mounts to pommel. The blade moderately pitted.
AN ENGLISH CIVIL WAR PERIOD MORTUARY HILTED BACKSWORD, 80.5cm blade incised ANDREIA FERARA on either side in the double fullers, characteristic hilt chiselled with scrolling foliage and opposing busts to the underside, D-shaped knuckle bow with scrolling side bar supports, bun-shaped pommel decorated to match, fine wire bound spirally fluted grip, complete with leather liner. Purchased Sotheby's 1968. One supporting bar cracked.
A LARGE LATE 17TH CENTURY CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD FROM SHIRBURN CASTLE, 93cm flattened diamond section hollow ground broadsword blade, characteristic brass hilt with opposing ovoid shell guard, D-shaped knuckle bow with two scroll supports, spherical pommel, wire bound grip with Turk's heads. One of twenty cavalry swords sold from Shirburn Castle, this being the only example with an earlier and finer blade, probably for an Officer. See plate 50a - European Swords and Daggers in the Tower of London for a similar example. Quillon lacking.
AN 18TH CENTURY CONTINENTAL HUNTING HANGER, 56cm curved fullered blade decorated with figures of huntsmen, a stag and a boar, characteristic brass hilt with shell guard, D-shaped knuckle bow and dome form pommel, the whole decorated with scrolling foliage and scenes from the hunt, tapering polished horn grip.
A SCARCE ENGLISH SILVER HILTED HUNTING HANGER, hallmarked for London, 1741-1742, maker's mark I.S within a rectangle, chiselled in relief with stags and bushes on quillon block, hounds and bushes on knuckle bow, one piece gripstrap and pommel with a fearsome grotesque mask flanked by elaborate trophies of arms, and a further mask which receives the knucklebow, fluted one piece horn grip, 66cm polished and slightly curved single edge blade cut with a pair of narrow and a pair of broad fullers and with traces of etched inscription and and chape engraved ensuite with foliage. Some age wear, hallmarked on knucklebow and beneath oval plate covering scabbard mouth.

The handles replaced. some slight stains and marks to the top. Some fading particularly to the right hand side of the timber.

A 19th century ash and elm bow-back Windsor chair with spindle supports to the horseshoe-shaped back, the carved seat on turned legs united by stretchers, 58cm wide x 57cm deep x 85cm high; together with a further Windsor captain’s armchair, 73cm wide x 57cm deep x 81cm high (2)Minor marks, dents and scratches overall to both chairs. Some signs of repair to the right hand arm of the captain’s chair. Possible repair to the joints at the back of the other chair.
