Made for a child, late 19th century, curved slender SE blade 48.5cms chiselled at the forte with a panel of arabesques, iron hilt with parrot?s head pommel entirely covered with gold damascene including flowering foliage and chevrons inside the knuckle bow, parrot?s head with inlaid ruby (?) eyes set in kundun, in its red fabric covered scabbard with gold tape and wire seam, gold locket chased with flowering foliage, gold chape pierced with foliage. Limited edition, numbered 242 of 900 printed on japon vellum paper. With original prospectus loosely inserted. This edition of Joyce's masterpiece of modernist Irish surreal realism was expanded with two appendices dealing with the tortured legal history of the book.. Jacket a little creased at head and foot of spine, spine a touch sunned, slight marking to lower board, head and foot of spine a touch yellowed, edges slightly foxed, internally clean, a nice copy.
