Nepalese/Hindu Two-Headed Deity Ganda Bherunda. 19th Century or earlier. The Nepalese/Hindu gilt bronze two headed bird deity, Ashta Mukha Ganda Bherunda, referred to as, “The special and little-known form of Lord Nrsimha, the Fourth Incarnation of Vishnu. The deity is intimately engaged with a female partner, atop a lotus base, the copper underside plate incised with a ritual flowerhead. Cf. the following is a verse associated with Ashta Mukha Ganda Bherunda, taken from, The MehulVora.com, on a segment on Indian Mythology, “I bow down to Lord Nrsimha who is ferocious and heroic like Lord Vishnu. He is burning from every side. He is terrific, auspicious and the death of death personified.” Condition: Base and diety are slightly loose.Size: 5 3/4 x 3 x 7 in.
