An Edwardian satinwood oval etagere, two tier inlaid with musical emblems and raised on slightly splayed legs. Width of lower tier 90 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The etagere is structurally sound. There are no breaks to the legs or supports. The top tier has one small 2 cm square section of foliate marquetry missing and one area around a bow and quiver where the marquetry is slightly lifting. The lower tier is in generally good order but does have one area to the right hand side where part of a horn and mandolin are missing. There are also two areas where the marquetry is slightly lifting. There are other small nibbles to the veneers in places. There are no major issues but some small amount of work is required.
A pair of German porcelain figures, suitors, each with printed mark "Germany" and anchor. Height 27 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The male figure has a small chip to the rear of the right-hand front facing lapel. The front facing left hand has been restored. The female figure has had restoration to the fan, shoulder and right-hand facing arm. There is a crack across the bottom of the right-hand section of the bow and there has been a break above this. The left arm and umbrella have also had some restoration.
A 19th century violin, with interior label McIntyre ? *** Kirk ?, with unmarked bow, in case. CONDITION REPORT: The violin does not appear to have any woodworm. It does appear to have been re-varnished and there are numerous scuffs and losses to the edges of the body. There are also cracks to the top. The back appears to be in generally good order. The ribs also appear to be in generally good condition. It is the edges of the top and the top section itself where there are problems.
A Victorian smokers bow, with spindled back and shaped turned front legs. Width 54 cm, height to top of back 89 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is in structurally very good order with no loose joints. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. There are no cracks to the seats and no loose spindles. There is some discolouration to the polish particularly around the stretchers and legs but no serious defects.
A Victorian mahogany bow-fronted chest of two short over three long drawers, raised on turned feet, width 107cm, height 103cm, depth 56cm. CONDITION REPORT Overall clean condition, this chest shows signs of recently benefiting frm a polish, leaving only minor signs of use, most notably to the middle long drawer, where there is a patch of staining and some minor scuffs and scrapes. There is a further mark to the lower drawer. The carcass shows signs of patch repair and fill and dark stain, mostly to the drawer dividers. There is some very light surface scuffing to the top edge. The right hand side of the top beading has split and is showing a slight mark. The back right corner of the top has had a small patch repair and the line of the repair is visible. The right hand side has a small crack rising from the lower edge of the board with an old scuff which has been polished in above it and further other polished in marks to the same side. There are also further patch repairs to the left hand side and lined of filler visible to the beading edge of the top. Despite all of the above mentioned damage, it sits as a very pleasing piece.
An Art Deco walnut bow-fronted cocktail cabinet, the upper pair of panelled doors enclosing a fitted interior above further pair of panelled doors with integral bottle rack, width 121cm, height 164cm, depth approx 45cm (af), also a small quantity of associated cut glass tumblers, wine glasses, etc. CONDITION REPORT Overall solid but used condition. There are some minor losses to the walnut veneer and further splitting throughout.
A wooden case containing 13 various violin bows including one after Vuillaume length 73.5cm and bearing stamp 'Veuillaume Paris', a French bow stamped 'Nicholas Duchene length 74.5cm, another stamped 'Dodd' length 74.5cm and 10 others unmarked, various lengths. Condition - various defaults including cracks, missing pieces etc.
Brooches, to include: an opal triplet brooch stamped 9ct; a Chinese carved greenstone clip brooch; a Chinese yellow metal filigree butterfly pattern brooch; a carved shell cameo brooch with yellow metal mount; a marcasite set silver bow pattern brooch; a pearl set white-faced yellow metal bar brooch, stamped 'PLAT 15ct'; and other brooches.
Antique violin with one piece back and scribed and inlaid outline, bearing label 'Carl Bergonzi 1733 Cremona' and a bow in hard wooden case. Length of back 36cm approx. Together with a vintage violin in case, in very distressed condition, probably late 19th/early 20th Century and a vintage ukulele in fitted case. (3) (B.P. 21% + VAT) Antique violin - badly scratched overall with three long noticeable cracks to the back and similarly five at least cracks to the front. Tuning pins not matching. Case overall paint spattered and worn with age. Bow generally worn with age.
