'The Nell Collection'1969 Wolseley 18/85 SaloonRegistration no. NDO 71HChassis no. WHS5D120AOdometer Reading: 54,587 MoT Expiry: 21/01/2021 *Engine could benefit from light re-commissioning and starter motor replacement *Running gear vendor-described as good*Bodywork goodDrawing on the smaller ADO 16 range BMC's larger ADO17 took its bow as the Austin 1800 in late 1964, the Wolseley 18/85 arriving in 1967. Featuring a distinct front and different rear light clusters to differentiate it from lesser Austin and Morris versions the 18/85 had a better interior, with wooden door fascias and dashboard imparting a more upmarket air. This example comes to auction with good bodywork, chrome and wheels/tyres (the correct Wolseley trimrings still in place) and the dark blue paint is vendor-rated as very good. The medium blue seats are in good order, although the driver's seat shows light wear to the piping and there are a couple of nicks in the material. Carpet, door cards and the expansive wooden dashboard are in average order. Engine staring is rated as poor but the vendor notes a new starter motor may be required, while running is rated as average and some light re-commissioning has been suggested by the vendor. Underbonnet presentation is said to be good. Running gear is said to be good throughout.
