A 19th Century Low Splat-back Windsor Armchair. The hoop back with an unusual pierced upper & lower centre splat flanked by six ash spindles; three either side running through the arm bow with six further under arm spindles and baluster & ring turned end supports. The elm seat on ball turned legs united by a crinoline stretcher.
A Fine Welsh Joined Oak Bow-back Settle Circa 1700-20. The tall bowed back comprising of 15 panels with edge moulded frame between plain uprights with rounded terminals. The down swept arms on square tapered posts leading down to a concave-fronted planked seat incorporating a lift off lid accessing the box compartment below enclosed behind a concaved four-panel front, 66 ins (168 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep and 65 ins (165 cms) in height.

Sold together with the original receipt dated June 1975, signed by Edward Barnsley and detailing its design by him, making by George Taylor under foreman manager Herbert Upton. (See illustration)
