A late 19th century pearl and diamond pendant, designed as a diamond-set bow suspending from a pearl with diamond-set bale and suspending a larger drop-shaped pearl. Set in silver and gold. Detachable bale. 5cm high. Fitted case by Harvey & Gore. Accompanied by report number 5776-4773 dated 3rd March 2016 from GCS, London stating that the two pearls measure 8.3 x 8.0 x 7.5mm and 13.0 x 9.8 x 8.6mm, both are natural saltwater pearls with no indications of treatment. Total weight 7.18g including mounts.

Tied with graduated diamonds between calibré-cut sapphire borders. Engraved with Princess Margaret's cipher. 5.6cm wide. With Christie's certificate of provenance. Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret was born on 21st August 1930, daughter of Prince Albert Duke of York and Elizabeth, Duchess of York, later to become the King and Queen. She grew up in the family home at 145, Piccadilly and Windsor with her sister, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Princess Margaret was a hugely popular member of the Royal Family, both at home and abroad, and as a beautiful and glamorous young woman began her public duties at the age of eighteen. She was second in line to the throne. She was soon idolized and seen in the light of a movie star. She loved jewellery and her collection grew from the inherited pieces to the many editions of pieces presented to her personally and those given to mark state occasions. Despite Princess Margaret's glamorous lifestyle, she remained devoted to the Royal Family and her charities of which she was president and patron of over eighty. She died in 2002. Provenance: Purchased by the current owner from Christie's, lot 11, "Property from the Collection of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon", 13 June 2006, London.
