Ancient Crucifixion of the Savior - Calvary with the coming ark type. Russia, late 17th - early 18th centuries Chamber and tragic universe of the Christian faith - crucifixion cross on thick cross boards of northern work, the last quarter of the 17th century. Paradise, pain and hope of personal appeal to God. Canonically represents the idea of suffering, atoning sacrifice, and resurrection from the cross. It is not for nothing that the signature at the crossbar reads: “We bow to your cross. We glorify the great true resurrection. In the center of the composition is a crucifix framed with medallions of the mourning Mother of God and Ion the Theologian; the angels of the Lord and Calvary against the backdrop of the inexorable and thorny spiers of Jerusalem. Not a hand-made ubrus, a witness to the drama, crowns the composition. The vertically blue enamel crowns adorn and document the resurrection from the cross. The quiet triumph of sacred truths is opposed by the tragic diagonal of the walls, rhythmically launching the composition. The contours of human sorrow and enlightened hope embrace the entire cross with the halos of Jonah and Mary. They sound like pearls - a well-known symbol of purity and a hymn to hope. Wood, ark, gesso, egg tempera, silver, brass alloy, polychrome cloisonné enamel. The crucifix is bordered with decorative braided piping with enamel grinders. Excellent collectible condition. No restoration interventions. Insignificant traces of existence.Product sizes: Height - 28cm width - 19cm
