A Victorian silver lady's pocket watch, late 19th century, with engraved decoration, the white enamel fdial with gilt highlighted decoration and bearing Roman numerals, case marked with 0.935 and three Swiss bears, serial 359072, maker's marks NH and EJ, with two keys and previous purchase invoice dated 1965, with a later sterling silver bow brooch attached and a graduated silver Albert chain.

A cast crossbow brooch with transverse arm and three onion terminals, socketted to the forward face and with stepped upper face; deep trapezoidal-section bow with collar; rectangular footplate with catchplate to the reverse, two columns of ring-and-dot to the upper face; hinged pin to the reverse. 73 grams, 92mm (3 3/4). A large silver archaistic slender bow brooch in 1st century BC-1st century AD style, with lozenge-section bow and foot, flared collar to the lower bow, c-shaped socket for the spring and spindle, round-section pin and tapering catchplate; outer faces of the bow and foot with hatched triangles to the outer edges, reserved lozenges between. 28 grams, 10.5cm (4 1/4). From an important English collection; acquired in the 1990s. Cf. Hattatt, R. Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, Oxford, 1989, item 1551A. Very fine condition.
