Cf. Hattatt, R. Ancient and Romano-British Brooches, Sherborne, 1982, item 199; Beck, H. et al. Fibel und Fibeltracht, Berlin, 2000, item 13. 3.56 grams, 41mm (1 3/4"). UK art market, acquired prior to 2000. The brooch belongs to the Hallstatt tradition of arched bow brooches, but it features a hinge rather than the more usual coiled spring. Fine condition.
