A Meissen Porcelain Monkey Band, 20th century, after the model by Johann Joachim Kändler, comprising the conductor with separate music stand, two seated singers, a violinist, a guitar player, a cellist, and a bassoonist, crossed swords marks in underglaze blue (one struck out), conductor 17.5cm high (8) Designed in the 1750's by Johann Joachim Kändler, the Monkey Band was a typical example of the Singerie fashion of the time where monkeys were depicted wearing fashionable clothes and imitating human behaviour in a humorous or satirical manner. Madame de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV, was one of the first to order a Monkey Band, which was delivered in 1753. Cellist with repair to bow and losses to tuning pegs.

Both with small rim chips. Sauceboat with three hairline cracks from rim.

Large crack encircling the lower body with staples. Slight chips to spout tip. Worcester teapot with a cover chip, replaced finial and a tiny spout chip. Mansfield cup with two tiny rim chips. Cannon Ball cup with some pitting. Penningtons tea bowl with no damage.
