A New First-rate Man of War, lately Launches at Chatham, carrying 112 Guns and One Thousand Men, printed and sold in Aldermary Church Yard, Bow Lane, London, circa, 1740, unattributed woodblock print with contemporary hand colouring, some old folds and creasing, 425 x 515 mm, mounted, framed and glazed with a Richard Green and Frank T. Sabin Gallery label on versoQty: (1)NOTESTHE DAVID SMITH PRINT COLLECTION PART I CIVIL ENGINEERING, TRANSPORT & TOPOGRAPHICAL PANORAMAS We can find no record of this print. Presumably published as a cheap 'broadside' for mass consumption, its chances of survival were remote. The printers address was that of C. Dicey between 1736 and 1763.

A 19th century mahogany bow-fronted chest of four graduated drawers with wrythen twist pilasters and brass handles, height 92cm, width 99cm, depth 53cm (af). CONDITION REPORT Ink stains, water marks, veneer lifted in places to top. Chip to back left corner, split to each side, some of the trim is missing. One back leg is loose.

An early 19th century stick barometer signed twice J.S Marratt, 63 King William Street, London Bridge, the bow-fronted moulded case with ivory twin scale marked for 10am yesterday and 10am today from 27-31" with vernier scales, the shaft with ivory mercury thermometer, the base with half urn cistern cover, 142.5cm high.

An early 20th century bird's-eye maple bedroom suite comprising double bow-fronted wardrobe, a matching dressing table with shaped front above a T-formation of drawers flanked by cupboard doors and a double headboard (3). CONDITION REPORT The finish to the dressing table is worn, mostly at the sides, but there is further cracking visible throughout the top surface. Further scuffs, scrapes and minor losses throughout the three pieces. Wardrobe: height 193cm, width 21cm, depth approx 63cm. Dressing table: height excluding mirror 80cm, height including mirror 150cm, width 136cm, depth 55cm. Headboard: height 86cm, width 139cm.
Lot 65
An Edwardian mahogany linen press with pair of panelled doors enclosing four slides above two short and two long drawers, to outswept bracket feet, 125 x 51 x 205cm (af) and an Edwardian mahogany bow-fronted dressing chest with bevelled mirror above small shelf and three long drawers raised on square tapering legs to peg feet, width 92cm, depth 55cm (badly af) (2). CONDITION REPORT There are losses to the cornice, further surface damage to the door fronts including scratches and paint overspray. The lower section has a split to the left hand side of the carcass, with further visible surface damage. The bracket foot from the back right leg is partially missing. The upright frame for holding the mirror on the dressing chest has both side trims detached but they are present. The top surface is heavily worn, showing scratches, staining, fading, etc and there is further surface damage to the drawer fronts and the rest of the carcass.

A Victorian mahogany wardrobe converted from a linen press, the bow front enclosing a railed interior with one brushing slide above four drawers, with wrythen column and acanthus leaf decoration, height 220cm, width 138, depth 65cm. CONDITION REPORT Veneer missing in places, splits, scratches and losses throughout and some staining.

An 18th century mourning pendant, a bow of hair on an oval ivory back surrounded with words that appear to read 'This is the acceptable time. This is the day of salvation' the reverse is inscribed 'Tho's Picton Esq, 27th April 1790, AE 66', framed in a white and blue enamel border mounted in yellow metal, hoop to the top, height 3.5cm, width 2.3cm.

CONDITION REPORT The top is scratched, some water marks, staining, minor losses, scratches throughout. Veneer loss to front and back leg repaired with a modern bracket.

Various items of jewellery to include a 9ct gold fashion ring with large pale yellow stone, hallmarked, size N, a 9ct gold pink sapphire and opal flower cluster ring, hallmarked, size P, a silver lapis ring, size R, a 9ct gold locket with a small pearl set on a blue guilloché back suspended on a gold bow, hallmarked (4). CONDITION REPORT Back of locket is loose but present, very small areas of damage to the enamel, all stones present in rings, clear hallmarks.

A Victorian mahogany bow-front two-over-three chest of drawers to turned baluster supports, 108 x 109cm. CONDITION REPORT Age-related wear in the form of surface scratches and some deeper scratches. Some small areas of veneer have lifted to the top and to each side there are small areas of the beading to the drawers missing.

A late Regency mahogany bow fronted chest, the cross-banded and satinwood strung top over four long graduated drawers with pressed brass handles, raised on splayed bracket feet, 130 cm wide x 63 cm deep x 94.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Various areas of inlay and veneer missing throughout, especially to the feet and apron. Has been patched in areas. Some heavier knocks, bumps, etc to the sides. The top drawer has had an interesting alteration to the interior. Drawers sit slightly proud. Handles have been replaced. General wear and tear conducive with age and use to include water marks to the top, some splitting to the veneer, knocks, bumps, etc. See images for more details.

Interior has some scratching and a couple of water marks. Areas of beading have been patched. Some cracking to the veneer. One leg has been off and re-inserted. Very wobbly. General wear and tear conducive with age and use.
