A pair of William IV butter shells with crests, bow shaped handles and spiral-shell feet, London 1832 by Richard Sibley I, 16.5cm wide (6.5in), 382g (12.25 oz) The crest of an eagle preying on an infant for Stanley of Derby. The Stanley family were Earls of Derby and had numerous other peerages but as there are no insignia of nobility this is somewhat tentative attribution.
A violin by Giovanni Gaida, London 1933. The wood with good red-brown varnish and undamaged. Bears Gaida's brand stamp and label. Length of Back: 7.8 15/16 in. Stop length: 12 7/8 in, with original leather case. * See William Henley "Universal Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers", page 29. Born at Bollengo (Near Ivrea) in 1862 settled in London in 1904 working for the Stainer Manufacturing Co. and for many years for F. W. Chanot, established his own workshop at Castle Street, Long Acre, 1925. Tonal quality rather remarkable for its velvety softness and eveness.
An early 20th century inlaid mahogany mirror-back side cabinet with two bow fronted astragal doors enclosing display shelves, either side of the shaped bevelled glass mirror over a plain top, two small and one long central drawers, flanked by two bow front cupboard doors supported on square tapering legs, ending in pad feet with shelved under-tier, 138 cms.

(85cm. x 36.2cm.), signed and sealed, framed and glazed.
