A late 19th Century carved mahogany pedestal sideboard in the Adam taste, the bow fronted centre with a reeded and ribbon crossed edge with a moulded ledge back, containing a single drawer in the fluted frieze with oval paterae ornament on turned and fluted tapered legs, headed with carved foliage, the twin pedestals of tapering form inlaid with ebony lines, with moulded sarcophagus hinged compartmented tops, one containing a deep drawer, the other a cellarette, with fluted and paterae decorated borders, the tapering cupboards below each enclosed by a door applied with ribbon tied husk garlands and oval cameo pendants between canted angles headed with rams heads, on carved lions claw feet, 233cm (7ft 7 3/4in) long.

A 19th Century mahogany and inlaid bow-fronted writing table, bordered with boxwood and chequer lines, the top with a reeded edge, inset with a panel of tooled leather, fitted with a central drawer in the arched apron, decorated with foliate spandrels, flanked by a deep drawer to either side, on square tapered gaitered legs, 122cm (4ft) wide.
GALE, NORMAN (1862 - 1942; poet). Manuscript verse etc. comprising approximately 300 original autograph poems (on ca. 400 4to leaves) of which about 20 signed; all in his distinctive hand. Fifty-one of these with manuscript title-leaf "Glances by Norman Gale", others were written for the unpublished "A Bending of the Bow"; an index leaf, headed "Serious Poems", is also present. Together with a quantity of typescript verse, some with annotations and additions in Gale`s hand. Together with two typescripts of the second half of the unpublished "The Young Heart" with 6 autograph poems (10-pages) inserted; the typescript of "Remembrances" (published in 1937); the typescript of the unpublished "Recoveries - Thirty Essays by Norman Gale" with Gale`s annotations and with 25-pages of the original manuscript; and the typescript of Gale`s unpublished novel "Love in London (Three-and-Thirty- Years-Ago)" 289-pages.
