A modern long bow and Hargreaves quiver CONDITION REPORTS Bow - limb in overall reasonable condition, indentation and marks on the wood appear to be from the wood itself and not as a result of any damage. Accretions on the surface of the bow are areas of thickly applied varnish. There is a scratch on the lower limb. Velvet handle shows signs of wear and tear conducive with age and use. There are some areas of glue where it has been attached to the limb. The scroll decorated leather banding on the handle is slightly faded. The horn tops of the bow show slight wear and tear conducive the age and use.Quiver - Green leather is faded in areas. White 'Hargreaves' logo and pattern on strap is faded in areas. The main body of the quiver shows numerous signs of wear and tear with some small holes to the leather outer of the quiver, along with various accretions on the surface. Metal banding to the top of the quiver is dented. Leather on the base of the quiver is partly missing revealing metal base. Numerous areas of discolouration - all conducive with age and use. A taxidermy stuffed and mounted Chub in verre eglomise bow-fronted case, inscribed "Chub 4lb 4ozs Caught by H Taylor Oct 7 1936 River Blythe" and bearing taxidermist's label "Preserved by W.F. Homer 105 Wood Grange Road Forest Gate London E.7" CONDITION REPORTS There are some small holes to its' fins, some splitting to the back of the case and pin holes where the nails have been stuck through. General dirt etc. Some flaking to paint work on the fish itself, wear to the gilding and ebonising on the case and has possibly been re-painted to the exterior and a new top placed on it. Approx 64 cm in length x 34 cm in height x 16 cm in depth at its widest point. General wear and tear conducive with age and use - see images for more details
A taxidermy case containing a stuffed and mounted Red-back Shrike, in bow-fronted glazed display case with verre-eglomise CONDITION REPORTS Case has been re-taped. Various areas of dirt and paint, etc to the background. Shrike itself has a few black dots to the wing and some ruffled feathers. There also appears to be a large piece of dust / moth case on it's head. See images for further details. General wear and tear conducive with age and use.
An Apollo Merlin bow and a Kestrel bow, together with twelve assorted arrows and other archery requisites, in a green vinyl case CONDITION REPORTS Bows - both bows show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and use. Small chips to paintwork on both bows' limbs. Transfers on limbs of both bows are faded and areas of the transfer are missing. The cork handles on both bows suffer from small chunks missing. Tips of both bows show signs of wear and tear with accretions. There are numerous accretions on both handles, though more so on the "Kestrel" handle. The Lot comes with three leather tabs, all faded and worn with heavy use and with the green wristband tab having accretions to finger guards. The two leather bracers, one with buckle attachment and the other elasticated. The buckled bracer is in poor condition with the leather deteriorated and the buckles are rusty commensurate with heavy usage. The white shoulder bracer shows signs of general wear and tear plus discolouration in areas.Quivers - The dark brown leather quiver shows signs of heavy use. The quiver is worn in areas. To the base the leather has started to come away. The decorated band at the top and bottom are very faded and are coming away from the main body of the quiver. Belt attachment has split. The 2nd quiver shows signs of wear and tear and areas of paint missing on the metal body with numerous scratches. The leather strap is faded and splitting in areas. Dents to the top of the quiver. The case shows signs of general wear and tear,scuffs, scratches, fading commensurate with age and use. The locks on the case have started to rust. The case contains 2 quivers, 3 bracers (one shoulder), 3 tabs and 1 "Sherwood" arrow holder to place in ground. The arrow holder and arrows are in reasonable order. A taxidermy stuffed and mounted Eel, in naturalistic setting and verre eglomise bow-fronted display case, bearing label inscribed "Eel caught by John Roper R Avon 1st Sept 1938 3lb 4oz" CONDITION REPORTS Paintwork is worn in various places and there are some cracks and chipping to the case throughout. Has possibly been re-taped at some point. Background has various dark spots, etc. Fish itself has flaking to the paintwork and the area around the fin looks a little strange - unsure if this is a repair or done at the time of casing?
