A LOUIS XVI BRONZE DORÉ AND MARBLE CLOCK GARNITURECirca 1880, Le Faucheur, H. ger DU ROY signed on faceThe gilt bronze torch and quiver tied to a laurel wreath with a bow and trailing ribbons is supported by an alabaster clock body with an enameled clock face with domed cover featuring both Roman and Arabic numerals. The rear large mechanism cover conceals the clock plate that is stamped “417” and engraved “3731” and “7/9/81”. The clock is supported by fluted columns and flanked with cast cornucopia-form gilt bronze mounts and a stepped plinth featuring foliate mounts and raised on gadrooned feet. A pair of nine-light gilt bronze candelabras each with a bouquet of roses held aloft by a pair of finely cast gilt bronze maidens. Each candlecup is a rose and part of the bouquet. All raised on stepped alabaster plinths in scale with the clock.Condition: lacks key. Includes pendulum. All supported by a conforming cabinet comprised of a pair of mullion grid, glass plate locking doors featuring adjustable shelves resting on a lower and wider cabinet of glass doors with a mullion grid; all raised on squashed bun feet.Condition: Very good, warm patina and no missing plate. The handles raised on forward arching supports, flanking a tight seat above a gilt twinging gilt acanthus and rod chair rail; all raised on spiral fluted legs with toupe feet. Cowtan and tout fabric with black ground with floral draping fabric motif.Condition: Rub through of painted finish at the handles. Chipping of finish at legs. Age cracks commensurate with age.
