A 19th century ship in a bottle the three masted steamship in a late 18th / early 19th century four sided bottle, with gilt decoration to the shoulders and ball stopper, 10 3/8in. (26.3cm.) long; together with another 19th century ship in a bottle, the well detailed three masted steamship with full rigging, lifeboats and anchors, flying the Japanese flag, in a barrel shaped bottle with ribbed decoration and cork stopper, 8¾in. (22.25cm.) long, lacks stand. (2) * Condition: - Four sided bottle: Steam funnel detached. Paint flaking & peeling to starboard side of the bow. Bottle has gilt wear, tiny chip to one corner and tiny bruise to one edge of body. - Barrel bottle: Small detached piece from ship loose inside bottle. Otherwise good.
A 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD, 80cm flattened diamond section blade with short central fuller, regulation copper hilt with boat shell guard, D-shaped knuckle bow, ovoid pommel, ribbed wooden grip, contained in its steel scabbard. Guard loose. While all the characteristics of this pattern of sword are present, there is a possibility that this is in fact a general officer's sword of the same period.
