An early 20th century German mahogany cased alarm clock ornamented with gilt metal rosettes. With enamel chapter ring having Arabic numeral markers and raised on a moulded bow front plinth. An early 20th century oak "jockeys" scales, the weighing seat with bow arms supported on spindles and splats, with the brass and cast-iron weighing apparatus in a box with hinged lid next to the left arm, on oblong base with square tapering supports, retractable carrying handles and two wheels, 72cm wide (arms in) This chair was reputedly used for weighing patients at Tor Moor House, a home for distressed gentlewomen in Woodhall Spa which was built in 1893 and provided accommodation for twenty ladies who needed the spa treatments available in the town but who found themselves "in reduced circumstances".
