The lace is shaped to surround a central and two side panels of painted gauze, the central scene being of a maiden seated in a clearing having collected flowers, an arrow arriving to her left, shot from the bow of Cupid who appears in the vignette to the right. To the left, a cherub approaches to assist in the flower picking. The central painting is signed G Lazellaz slightly to the left of the maiden's extended foot. Contained in a substantial black leather covered and cream silk lined fan box, embossed initials MC on the outer lid, the inner lid padded and the silk marked in god for Duvelleroy 47 Passage Panoramas, 35 Bould Des Capucines. The double paper leaf is finely painted with a scene of fishing near a rocky outcrop, travellers being ferried, a lone hunter with bow and arrow aiming at ducks in flight and on the water. The verso is painted with a large country house with adjoining chapel, somewhere in Europe, whereas the reserves show figures in robes carrying fans, and musical instruments, a bearded man to the right, seemingly a group of entertainers. A small faun is painted to the bottom left. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cm. In good general order, the leaf very, very slightly crumpled. The painting of the buildings is darkened around the edges and on the folds, whereas the cream side-panels with the figures is clean and bright.

The gorge is further decorated with paper resembling a tied ribbon bow, in the French colours, printed with advertising for the Champagne producer Eugene Cliquot, Reims, founded in 1894, and the words ''La Gloire des Alliés''. The verso, shows champagne in glasses, with the words Héroiqués Alliés Demandez UNE COUPE de ''GLOIRE'', partout'', encouraging the consumption of their champagne named ''La Gloire''. The bottle which can be seen on an advertisement on the Internet, shows the flags and wording as part of the label and refers to 1916. The word deposé (patent) is printed on the flags. Guard length 8.75 inches or 22cm See page 227 of the exhibition Catalogue entitled ''Fans: War and Peace'', the Fan Museum, Greenwich, which shows a similar but later fan from 1918 which includes the US flag, and not that of Russia. Research on the three versions of this fan has also been published in the FCI Bulletin Summer 2014 # 98, researched by member Pierre-Henri Bigger.
