A good matched pair of 19th century English country Windsor chairs. To include a country yew wood and elm Windsor chair / Armchair. Raised on turned legs with inverted bow stretchers beneath elm wood saddle seats atop. To the rear an upright yew wood hoop spindle back with shaped elbow rests flanking the seat. Measures 91 cm high x 53 cm wide x 43 cm depth. Together with a 19th Century English beech and elm Windsor chair / armchair. Raised on turned legs with inverted bow stretchers beneath elm wood saddle seats atop. To the rear an upright hoop spindle back with shaped elbow rests flanking the seat. Measures 94 cm high x 49 cm wide x 43 cm depth.
A 19th century Scottish comb back Windsor chair. Raised on turned legs with elm wood seat, bobbin turned elbow rest uprights to the front, turned gallery spindle rails elsewhere and to the upright back. The top rail with bow fronts, possible added lated being also screwed into the elbow supports at rear.
6th-5th century BC. An iron short sword comprising a leaf-shaped blade with midrib, bow-shaped lower guard, flat grip and T-shaped pommel; mounted on a custom-made stand. See Khorasani, M.M. Arms and Armour from Iran. The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tübingen, 2006, pp.72-75 for discussion. 2.3 total, 63.3cm including stand (25"). From the family collection of a South East London collector; formerly acquired in the late 1950s. Very fine condition. Professionally cleaned and restored.
11th-8th century BC. A mixed group of bronze items comprising: two dress pins with pelta-shaped plaques; two bracelets with butted ends; an arm-ring with scrolled ends; a restrung necklace of bronze beads with irregular carnelian and other beads and annular pendants, central wheel pendant; a restrung group of domed bronze discs; a pair of bronze fibulas, one with twisted bow. 965 grams total, 5.5-77cm (2 - 30 1/4"). Property of a lady living in Kent, UK; formerly part of her grandfather's collection; acquired in Germany after WWII; thence by descent 2006. [9,No Reserve]Mainly fine condition.

A silver bow brooch comprising a D-shaped headplate with concentric granulated bands, three-row spring with granulated knops, shallow bow with D-shaped ledges and granule detailing, tongue-shaped footplate with applied filigree scroll and ropework borders; catchplate to the reverse. Cf. Beck, H. et al. Fibel und Fibeltracht, Berlin, 2000, fig. 99(13"). 69.2 grams, 84mm (3 1/4"). Property of a European collector; formerly in an old European collection formed in the 1980s. A matched pair of silver-gilt bow brooches, each with rectangular headplate and geometric detailing, short bow, long lozenge footplate with raised border and midrib, beast-head finial with garnet cabochon eyes, pin-lug and catch to the reverse. A substantial bronze fitting, possibly a military phalera, with the head of Medusa in high-relief, flowing hair framing the face, wings to the crown with two snake heads below, tails tied in a bow below the chin; three piercings to the rim for attachment. 165 grams, 83mm (3 1/4"). From the collection of a European gentleman living in South London; acquired 1970-1980. Very fine condition.
