A previously unrecorded white-glazed Bow figure group c.1758-60, emblematic of the changing year, embodied by five putti standing on a rocky base, four representing the seasons of Spring through to Winter with varying attributes, the central figure holding a basket containing the fruits of the year, and a staff in his right hand, all raised on an unusual pierced rocky base with a recumbent goat and lamb among applied flowers, shells and coral, the base with an impressed T mark, possibly relating to John Toulouse, some restoration, 19.8cm high. Provenance: from a deceased estate on the Channel Islands.

A Lanvin haute couture green and gold gazar evening gown, late 1950s-early 60s, labelled and numbered 24387, with knife-pleated lamé skirt, the bodice pleated to form a central 'bow', with original belt, bust 97cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Slight fraying/soiling to edge of silk at underarms. Hem of interior petticoat is soiled, occasional stains scattered over skirt lining/petticoat but concealed by gold over skirt. Centre back and centre front skirt seam let out at top. Otherwise very fresh and good.

A Norman Hartnell couture chiné taffeta ensemble, circa 1956, labelled, in shades of yellow and green, the dress with cross-over bodice and bow to left hip; tent coat with slit to rear, bust approx 97cm, 38in (2) CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, very fresh. Hem has been altered to both coat and dress. Coat: sleeve dart has been let out by 1cm (minor). Dress: 3 small faint grease marks to right bodice (not immediately obvious as concealed by print) and at right hip also. Scattering of pin marks from brooch to right shoulder (minor). One light brown spot stain at left shoulder (minor). Faint perspiration stains at underarms which are very hard to see as concealed by print. Dart has been let out at shoulders by 1cm (minor), rear wrapover bodice dart has been taken in by 1cm (minor).

CHURCHILL WINSTON S.: (1874-1965) British Prime Minister 1940-45, 1951-55. Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1953. A vintage signed 5 x 7½ photograph by Churchill, the image depicting the politician seated in a three-quarter length pose wearing a suit with bow tie. Signed ('WS Churchill') in dark fountain pen ink to a dark area at the base of the image. Matted in cream and framed and glazed in a brown wooden frame to an overall size of 9½ x 12. Together with a T.L.S., LM Shillingford, by Lettice Shillingford, Churchill's Secretary, one page, 8vo (neatly trimmed), London, 16th November 1956, to Mr J. W. Kirk, pasted to the verso of the frame, stating, in full, 'I return to you the photograph which you sent some time ago, belonging to Mr. Upchurch. Sir Winston was very glad to sign it for him, and you were kind enough to say you would deliver it.' VG

Comprising: A) Early 20th Century Knights of Pythius Ceremonial Lion's Pommel sword. Nickel plated curved single fuller steel blade, one side marked "PETTIBONE//BROS./MFG. CO" , etched panel with intertwined "KP" on other, both sides with etched panels, one with a name. Brass hilt with lion's head pommel, two branches on left side and shark skin grip wrapped with brass wire. Complete with nickel plated scabbard with relief cast brass mounts. Reverse of guard embossed "U/R". Excellent condition, some patina on brass and light freckling of surface rust on blade and scabbard. B) Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer's Sword, Tapered steel blade, one side etched with "K.C. Bradford" in a pane, the other with "F.C.Y.D. Association" in a panel and top marked "AMES MFG./Co/CHICOPEE/MASS." Brass hilt with cast arms on both sides of knuckle bow and an eagle on guard and pommel. Complete with nickel plated scabbard with brass mounts and chain hanger. Very good condition, gilt excellent on hilt, blade shows some wear and light freckling, scabbard shows some light surface patina. C) Mameluke-hilted U.S. Marine Corps Officer's Sword. Curved single fuller steel blade, nickel plated with etched panels, one side "UNITED STATES MARINES" in a panel surrounded by scrolls with 5-pointed star maker's mark at top marked "PROVED" in gilt center. The other side with etched panels reading "UNITED STATES MARINES" and "Philip E. Lacy" in panels surrounded by American flag and Marine insignia. Spine etched with florals and marked "USMC App. Serial #322." Two piece tan plastic grips, gilt brass hilt with acorn finials and languettes. Nickel plated scabbard with brass mounts. Excellent condition with a few light storage marks. Blade Length-(A)35 - 1/2", (B)30", (C)32 - 1/2"; Overall Length-(A)42", (B)35 - 1/2" (C)38 - 3/4";

Comprising: A) Model 11 German Cavalry saber. Wide curved steel blade with large single fuller, heavy steel reverse-P hilt and languettes, front of guard stamped with regimental markings "E12LWR" and left side, above languette stamped "J.M.X.1.42." Leather-wrapped wood grip. Steel Scabbard with two heavy ring mounts. Good condition; grey pitted patina overall. Grip very good with some scuffs on leather. B) Elizabeth II Royal Air Force Officer's eagle pommel sword. Straight tapered single fuller steel blade is un-sharpened and decorated with etched panels of banners, RAF eagle and crown, English Coat of arms and vacant banners. Right side marked at top "BY APPOINTMENT/TO H.M. QUEEN/ELIZABETH II/SWORD/CUTLERS/WILKINSON/SWORD/LTD/MADE IN/ENGLAND". Gilt Brass hilt with large relief Royal Air Force crown over eagle on pierced guard and chiseled crown over "E/II/R" on knuckle bow. Eagle head pommel and shark skin grip with brass wire wrap. Black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Excellent overall with a few minor marks from use. Blade Length-32"; Overall Length-39 - 1/2", 38 - 1/2";

Round blued steel barrels with solid matte rib, single silver bead, barrel extension, and stiff-leaf engraving around breeches. Scalloped boxlock action with Greener crossbolt. Right side deeply engraved with three pheasants and left side with two hares. Bottom engraved with a Turkey roosting and "PATENT", triggerguard bow engraved with leaves around serial number. Extractors, non-automatic safeties, double triggers, and cocking indicators. Walnut buttstock with relief carved cheek piece on left side and sling swivels, splinter forearm with Deeley release and checkering. Fair conditions, barrels retain about80-90% reblued finish, some turned to plum, bores have some corrosion. Action cleaned and has some light pitting on top of lever, some screws are marred. Stock shows heavy wear, probably re-checkered, a few splinters missing along forearm and around scalloped action, scattered marks from use and a couple minor repairs.
