Light wear to high points, otherwise nearly extremely fine. Princess Clementina Sobieski (1703-1735) was betrothed to Prince James Stuart. George I was averse to the marriage and to please him the Princess was arrested and imprisoned in Innsbrück Castle. Eventually she escaped to Bologna and was married to James, at that time in Spain, by proxy.

Both extremely fine. (2) The intended marriage of Charlotte and Prince William never took place as Charlotte broke off the engagement six months after it was announced. Perhaps due to the wrath of her father, she stayed out of the public’s gaze at Cranbourne Lodge Windsor until 1816.

Very fine, small stain by ribbon. The victory at Landau by Louis, Margrave of Baden, made the normal passage into Germany impossible. Joseph was present and it was said that when he was advised not to get into danger he replied that those who were afraid might retire.
