S. 1152 variant; N. 775 variant; Hild. - (but see 1891-1892 for normal Helmet type); See Smart, Veronica, A Subsidiary Issue of Æthelred II's Long Cross Type, BNJ XXXIV (1965), pp.37-41 for discussion of similar portrait style in the preceding type. This moneyer is only otherwise recorded for three Helmet coins of Lincoln (in EMC, SCBI and Hildebrand), but none for this apparent subsidiary type; other moneyers at Lincoln are recorded (Aelfsige (4 coins), Colgrim (1) and Wulfsige (1)) for the Long Cross type with similar portrait style. Good very fine; small split to flan edge. Extremely rare; possibly unique as this variant.

Dated 1676 AD. Obv: profile bust with date below and CAROLVS A CAROLO legend. Rev: Britannia with QVATVOR MARIA VINDICO legend and BRITANNIA in exergue. Edge: plain. 5.89 grams, 26mm. Peck 492. Montague (p.48, nos.12 and 13) suggests the 1675 (Peck 491) and 1676 pieces as being farthing patterns but Peck suggests they are official medalets and argues that the fact both dates are only known in silver is significant in this regard. [No Reserve] Good very fine. Scarce.
1737-1745 AD. Dies 1*/C**. Obv: profile bust with ANNA D G MAG BR [FR] ET HIB REG legend. Rev: crown over Britannia. 9.22 grams, 28mm. Peck 731. Peck discusses that these pieces were struck from rusted and repolished dies, possibly by a Mr Bush, Office of Ordnance, Tower of London (according to Snelling; see Peck pp.178 and 183), in the period 1737-1745, when Richard Arundell was Master of the Mint. [No Reserve] Near fine. Rare.
Dated 1790 AD. Fifth laureate head. Obv: profile bust with GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA legend with inverted 'A' for 'V' in GEORGIVS. Rev: crowned 'spade' arms with date below and M B F ET H REX F D B ET L D S R I A T ET E legend. 3.81 grams. S. 3735 variant; Fr. 362 variant. While inverted letters in legends are well documented for silver and copper denominations, they are very rarely seen on dies for gold coins. [No Reserve] Near fine; old mount scar to edge at top. Extremely rare; the inverted A apparently unrecorded.

Rev: crowned arms between pillars with HISPAN ET IND REX legend with monogram LIMAE for Lima mint, mark of value 8R and assayer initials I J. 26.97 grams. S. 3765A; ESC 133; KM# 97 for host coin. Host coin good very fine; countermark very fine. Scarce.

Dated 1799 AD. Obv: profile bust with raised, downward pointing 'broad arrow' below. Rev: Britannia with five gunports to ship with BRITANNIA legend and date 1?7 9?9 with raised downward 'broad arrows' between outer pairs of numerals. Edge: grained in groove. 12.18 grams. S. 3778 variant; Peck 1248 variant. This is a most curious piece; the single 'broad arrow' to the obverse and the two similar arrows within the date to the reverse have clearly been cut into the dies resulting in them being raised on this coin; the elements of the arrows, formed each from three lines, have been engraved rather than punched. Worthy of further research. [No Reserve] Good very fine. Extremely rare; apparently unrecorded.
