Rev: long voided cross with 'hand' in first and third quarters and pellet-in-annulet set high in fourth quarter with blundered IOII / INI / NIO / IIN legend with reverse-barred Ns and pellet-centred Os; the pellet-in-annulet to the fourth quarter possibly intended as a final letter to the legend. See Allen, Dr. Martin, The Mints and Moneyers of England and Wales, 1066-1158, BNJ 82, pp.53-120 and table for latest available published list of moneyer names, mints and types; the letter sequence ALD only appears in this type for the moneyer H/Aldene at Nottingham (other moneyer names, such as Ailwald, Aldred, Aldwine, Aldret and Baldwine are known at mints including Bristol, Lincoln, Pevensey, Salisbury, Shaftsbury, Totnes and Worcester but none of these known for this type"). The spacing of the lettering does not orientate with the reverse design so the details remain uncertain; possibly a new moneyer name or the first appearance of this type at another mint. 0.55 grams. 1412-1413 AD. Light coinage. Obv: facing bust with slipped trefoil on breast and +HENRICVS REX ANGLIE legend. Rev: long cross and pellets with CIVITAS DVNOLM legend for Durham mint. Found Essex, UK, 2015. S.1735; N. 1365; see Walters, F. A., The Coinage of Henry IV, NC 4th series, V (1905), p.59 and pl.XIII, 12 (possible die duplicate"). Spink and North refer to the symbol on the breast as being a 'trefoil' but Walters (cited above) and Stewartby (in English Coins, 1180-1551) correctly state this to be a 'slipped trefoil' (a trefoil with a stem at the base) and resembling a small cross, especially on worn coins. 0.82 grams. Near very fine for issue; excellent bust and clear mark, reverse off centre, hairline flan crack. Very rare.
1413-1422 AD. Class C. Obv: facing bust with mullet on right shoulder in tressure with +HENRIC DI GRA REX ANGLIE Z FRANC legend with quatrefoil after king's name. Rev: long cross and pellets with +POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEVM and CIVITAS LONDON legends. S. 1765; N. 1387a. 3.64 grams. Good fine, edge clipped.
1438-1443 AD. Obv: facing bust with leaf on breast in tressure with fleurs and pellets to spandrels and trefoils by bust with +HENRIC DI GRA REX ANGL Z FRAN legend with double saltire stops and 'cross fleury' initial mark. Rev: long cross and pellets with extra small pellet to second and fourth quarters with POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEVM and CIVITAS LONDON legends and no initial mark for London mint. S. 1909; N. 1496; see Buck A2 (variant"). 3.47 grams. Good fine; slightly ragged edge. Scarce.
