Samuel Woodforde (1763-1817) - Ink drawing - "Jupiter", studies of torsos with musculature, a note on "the direction of the head", and "Jupiter", 7.25ins x 6.5ins, John Massey Wright (1777-1866) - pencil , ink and wash - sketch for illustration of The Pilgrim's Progress, signed JMW, lower right, 8.75ins x 7.5ins, and seven other figure studies, all unframed Samuel Woodforde ink drawing - this is in a mount and secured by two tapes to upper edge. There is a near vertical crease to the left edge, and a 45 degree crease across the lower right corner. John Massey Wright (1777-1866) - sketch illustration for Pilgrim's Progress - this work is supported by two tapes to upper edge. It is faded and slightly discoloured. There is some spotting, and signs of damp to upper edge. Very small area of loss to lower right corner with associated 2mm split to paper. One circa 1cm vertical tear to lower edge. This and other parts of the lower edge have been supported with a paper tape. The remaining seven works, all in mounts but unframed, appear to be in reasonably good conditionThe Woodforde has pencil number 19220 to verso. In giving the attribution to Woodforde we are following Mssrs Abbott & Holders attribution. John Massey Wright - verso has pencil inscription giving name of artist and dates and also title of work. There is also a signature to verso in pencil - "J Massey Wright". John Nixon (circa 1795) from an album From The Hospital of La Providence. This probably written in pencil by the vendor. The pair of ink and wash satires the upper with elderly gentleman in top hat talking to young girl - this has ink inscription to verso - "Alfresco Nel Palazzo Ducale" ink study of seated gentleman - later pencil inscription to lower edge. Circle of Thomas Stothard - seated Britannia and one other figure, a series of four pencil  numbers to verso. Further circle of Thomas Stothard - male and female standing figures, male with Caduceus  three pencil numbers, and small ink sketch of bust.
