As a Kel Dor, Jedi Master and High Council member Plo Koon had a thick, leathery hide that protected his body from oxygen-deprived environments. This lot consists of a bulbous, fabric-backed cast foam latex Kel Dor head, face, and neck appliance hand-painted in shades of brown and red. The appliance is displayed on a bust with a metal base. This lot is in fair and fragile overall condition with visible cracking, discoloration and missing foam latex apparent in several areas, particularly around the neck. Note other lots in the auction may close on June 30th or July 1st. An Admiral Ackbar (Erik Bauersfeld) head casting made from the original molds for Richard Marquand's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The original Ackbar puppet and separate Mon Calamari head appliance were designed by makeup designer Phil Tippett and manufactured by Industrial Light & Magic's (ILM) "Monster Shop." This lot comes from Tippett, who was nominated for an Academy Award® for his work on the film and later used the original appliance molds to craft this head casting. The casting is made of foam latex and elastic hand-painted in Ackbar's signature reddish-orange. It is mounted to a green bust for stability and affixed to a wood base stamped "TIPPETT" for display. The lot is in good overall condition with some chipping wood and a split down the center of Ackbar's forehead from use. Dimensions: 17" x 12" x 20" (43.25 cm x 30.5 cm x 51 cm) Estimate: $3,000 - 5,000

After the Deetz family moved into their home, Maitland and his wife Barbara (Geena Davis) transformed into terrifying ghouls to scare the Deetzes out. This latex mask was produced from the original molds used for Adam's ghoulish face, painted pink with white teeth and blackened eyes, and mounted to a styrofoam bust for stability. The mask exhibits visible signs of age and wear with some splitting at the neck, but remains in good overall condition. Masks were worn as John Malkovich passed through the portal into his own mind and found himself in a world where everybody looked like him and could only say 'Malkovich'. The silicone mask features hand-punched hair, eyelashes and blue plastic eyeballs. It is presented on a production foam bust, and a hidden zip runs along the back. There is a split at the top of the mask above the zip from production use, though it remains in good overall condition. This brown urethane bust features a removable hat built over a wire frame, a wooden base, and "07 R. Miller" carved into its back. English School, 19th centuryPortrait of King Henry I, bust length, in an ermine-trimmed robe and gold crownoil on canvas 56 x 41cm, unframedCondition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. The canvas has been commercially prepared, a stamp for an artists’ supplied is present on the reverse but partially covered by an old paper label. The inscription on the label has worn away and is now almost illegible. The canvas is in a good condition, the tension is adequate and the picture is in plane. There is a small hole to the right of the sitter’s head. The paint layer is in a good, stable condition with a few small losses around the edges. There is a network of age cracks across the work. The crown and elements of the cloak created with gold leaf, copying the technique of earlier portraiture. The varnish is dull, uneven and yellowed.

There is an addition along the lower edge of the picture. The adhesion with the lining is poor with undulations and small lumps across the surface. The paint layer is a little worn in areas but stable. Retouching has slightly darkened and is a little wholesale in areas. The varnish is glossy and even with a layer of surface dirt.Watercolours: Some foxing and colour fading to the portrait of John Scott Hylton. Some orange stains, colour fading, creases and tears to the portrait of Phillip Bramwell Hylton.

The canvas tension is stiff but the picture is in plane. The paint layer is stable. Old damages have been repaired through lining. There is extensive retouching in the background, finely applied following lines of abrasion, Here the retouching is well matched to the original but matte. Some retouchings have darkened, for example the old tear to the right of the sitter’s head. Retouching in the face have lightened. The varnish layer has yellowed. There are drip marks in the varnish at the lower right corner.

The painting has been painted to fit the oval slip of the frame and the edges are not completely finished. At the right side dark lines following the oval are present. The paint layer is in a good, stable condition overall. There are some deep scuffs in the paint layer at the upper left edge caused by movement in the frame. Overpaint is mainly located around the edges of the painting and applied in a wholesale, brushy manner. The varnish is even and semi glossy.

Italian School, late 18th centuryPortrait of a sculptress, bust length, working on a classical bustoil on canvas55 x 46cmProvenance: Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London.Condition report: The canvas has been relined. There is craquelure in parts. There is a scratch running diagonally from the upper right edge towards the head. There are other smaller losses elsewhere, mainly to the lower sixth of the canvas, where there is also some lifting. There are several spots of retouching apparent to the eye, probably due to flaking prior to the painting being relined. The paint on the face has become a little thin and there is some detail loss. Seen under UV: the retouching does not show up under UV, possibly due to the varnish. However it is apparent that there must be more retouching, especially close to the lower edge where it is clear that the paint has become unstable.
