A Fabulous 15th Century Nottingham Albaster carved with St John's Head on a Platter above the bust of Christ, flanked by the figures of St Peter and Thomas Becket, below winged angels overhead, traces of gilding to his beard, 10" x 6¾" (25.5 cm x 17 cm), mounted on a crimson velveteen clad display board 14½" x 9½" (37 cm x 24 cm).
A PLAIN GLASS TUMBLER, c .1830, engraved with a portrait bust of Lord Brougham (1778-1868), wigged as Lord Chancellor under an inscription "Brougham Reform Cordial", the reverse engraved "The True Spirit of Reform...Thurston, Wine and Spirit Merchant, Berwick Street, Soho". 13cmNote: Henry Brougham was a Scots born politician closely associated with the Reform movement of the first quarter of the 19th century. He is best-known for leading the great Reform Act of 1832 through the House of Lords in his role as Lord Chancellor. It is probable that this tumbler was made at Alloa Glassworks around 1830.
