A late 19th century French Diplomat's courtsword, slender, fullered plated blade 30", etched on both sides with trophies of flags and arms in scrolled, foliate panels, ornamental classical style gilt brass hilt, the turn down shell guard bearing bust of goddess within wreath and cornucopia, flattened crossguard and quillon, writhen knucklebow incorporating a winged cherub standing on the head of a demon and clasping writhen loop into the mouth of lion's head pommel and ornamental top to mother of pearl grips, in its facetted black patent leather scabbard with gilt leaf engraved locket and chape.
