A gold scarab brooch, the scarab claw set to the centre of the knife edge bar brooch, with a seed pearl cup set at one end, and the bar engraved 'Thebes the secret of the soul', with pin and 'C' catch, tested as approximately 9ct gold, 52mm long, 3.85g, together with a gold scarab swivel ring, tested as approximately 9ct gold, 4.45g, and a carved cornelian, possibly a seal, the domed cornelian with a drilled swivel fixing hole, and matrix intaglio engraved with a bust, approximately 30 x 21mm (3)Finger size K-L approximatelyCondition report: Brooch:Pin is bent/out of shape, but still functional.Surface marks/scratches to gold.Ring:Surface marks/scratches to gold.Sizing join visible at base of shank.Repair visible to one shoulder, possibly soft solder repair.Shank is not round, and underside of scarab is flat. Early 19th century French School, A bust portrait of a young man, oval, oil on canvas laid on board, in gilt frame, 54 x 44cmCondition report: The work has been later laid onto board and presumably restored at the same point. There is overpainting particularly noticeable around the face. A small area of paint loss is visible around his collar, a tiny paint chip also among his hair. The frame has been re-painted gold.
