Gentleman's silk court waistcoat, English, late 18th/early 19th century, exquisitely embroidered with flowers and foliage in coloured silks on an ivory satin ground, the buttons to the front embroidered with tiny floral motifs, ties to back. Some wear to armhole edges. Professionally conserved in 1997 and report available on request. Sold on a black fabric covered torso bust and stand. A Coalport Parian bust of Nelson c.1853, modelled by Joseph Pitts after a painting by John Whichelo, wearing his Vice-Admiral's uniform and raised on a low circular socle, impressed 'JOSh PITTS SC LONDON 1853', the back inscribed 'Model under the direction of Admiral Sir William Parker KCB from the painting by Wichell in his possession', 23.2cm. Cf. National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, No. AAA5974 for an identical example.

However, as the factory was known to use moulds from other Staffordshire factories, and as the piece is unusually unmarked, a definite attribution is not possible..

Hem of interior petticoat is soiled, occasional stains scattered over skirt lining/petticoat but concealed by gold over skirt. Centre back and centre front skirt seam let out at top. Otherwise very fresh and good.

Jacket label has cut in it. One button is detached but we have it. Skirt hem needs re-stitching at one panel (minor) and has small 1cm brown stain to rear seat area.
