Doris Gerrard (20th century), `Punjabi Girl`, a painted plaster bust of a young woman wearing Indian costume, on a wooden plinth with a plaque bearing the title and the artist`s signature, in a perspex case, the bust 59 cm (23 in) high. Note: Doris Gerrard studied at Plymouth College of Art in the 1920s. She was married to Charles Gerrard, a painter and sometime principal of the J. J. School of Art in Bombay. Beverley Nichols described her as `a sculptress of genius, completely wasted in India`. This work, probably executed between 1945 and 1948, came from her studio sale in the 1990s, the proceeds of which endowed a scholarship in her name at Plymouth.

Mr Vincent Perronet, Vicar of Shoreham, Kent, aged 86 oval in a moulded ebonised frame, 4.5cm x 3.5cm (1.75" x 1.25") note: Vincent Perronet (1693-1785) was a friend and adviser of John and Charles Wesley, founders of Methodism. After Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805) - bust portrait of a young woman with a vine garland on her head and wearing a fur shawl, signed `d`apres Greuze` and dated 1828, inscription verso, oval, enamel, 4.5" x 3.75" within good original ormolu scrolling frame monogrammed AMMA and decorated with cherubs, birds, the head of a girl and foliate strap work, frame 8.75" x 6.75" * The inscription verso reads "A.M. Enamel d`apres Greuze from Prince Demidoff(s) Florence"* Demidov (Demidoffs) - Russian family that acquired great wealth in the 18th century, largely through iron production and mining, and became patrons of the arts and sciences.
